This is me with my husband Carl, right around the time we got married (September 30th, 1949). The girl to my right was my bridesmaid. Looks like she stepped back so it would just be Carl and me. The picture would have been important. We didn’t have wedding photos.
The war had just ended and there was a shortage of everything. Even things like jewellery. I had some bits but they were expensive and not even good stuff. There was just not much selection of anything because everything had gone to the war effort.
