H.D. Watson worked at City Hall for many years. He was at one time in line for the position of City Treasurer. When he didn’t make it, the city made him the first City Tax Collector. As a child, I can remember visiting his office in the old City Hall down on Hastings Street just east of the old Interurban Terminal while he carefully went over the days receipts down to the last penny. Then he moved to his new office in the new City Hall on Cambie.
