My uncle, Raymond Marenus Krefting, was a bomber pilot with the RCAF 419 Squadron, based in England. The photo was probably taken in Vancouver, 1939. Raymond flew 13 missions; he and his crew lost their lives after a midnight raid on Essen, Germany, August 8, 1942. Raymond was assistant squadron leader. Squadron leader was the legendary “Moose” Fulton.

So many young lives lost. What a wonderful memory of him.
