Ann Allen (centre) with classmates, Barbara Hobbs and Ella Granhold, fellow UBC students, celebrating the acceptance of her Master’s thesis. Ann went on to a successful career and from 1961 to 1968 at Child Welfare Division HQ, she was delegated provincial responsibility for 10,000 children-in-care. To help communication between foster parents and social workers she organized 2 conferences which led to the formation of the Foster Parent Association. She received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for Professional and Community Services.
