My grandfather, Alfred Douglas, with his friend Peter Nelson. We emigrated from Clydebank, Scotland in 1948 to our Mum’s father who had returned to Canada after our Grandmother died when our mother was born. Mum was 29 when we arrived in Vancouver first time she met her Dad as she was 3 weeks old when he left. Father went to Vancouver in March 1948. Mum, myself, Joseph, Patrick and Maureen came in September 1948. We went to Gibson’s Dairy on Hastings Street and had our first ever milk shake.
