This photo of my parents, Denise and Marcel, was taken in June 1946 while walking along Granville Street. They were visiting from Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Empire Cafe, which was across the street from Woodwards, was their destination that day. They married in 1949 and shortly afterwards moved to Vancouver after they lost everything in the Red River flood in Winnipeg. My mother’s fondest memories of this photo is not only that she married “the man of her dreams”, but that she sewed her coat!
