Photo taken 1941, 2 years after 2 sisters came to Vancouver for a better life. They were born in a one room wooden shack, on a farm 7 miles outside Rocky Mountain House, AB. Their parents immigrated from Finland about 1910. The woman on the left is my mothter Helen Elma (nee) Kojola (AKA Elma Pakka). She was 19 in the picture; her sister, Aino Kojola (AKA Ina Sawchuk) 26.
Note: The back of the photo is stamped: 512 W. Hastings St., Vancouver.

My mother, on the left, married Mike Omelance (AKA Michal Omelaniec) in Vancouver January 8, 1944. They had 3 children in the 50’s: Diane, Cheryl & Janice.
