I grew up in Alberta and in the summer of 1957 I finished high school. For a graduation present my step grandfather, Bill Batty, announced that if I would come out to the coast to visit with him, he’d show me around Vancouver.
I travelled by train to the coast, which was a fabulous adventure in itself, but the time I spent in Vancouver was truly special. Grandpa took me around to see all the sights. We went shopping and to the theatre. We had so much fun!
Grandpa Bill will always hold a special place in my heart, and since that wonderful summer, so, too, does the City of Vancouver.
