Mom had a tough life. Her dad died when she was only three, and six years later. At the age of 14, she was placed with a family where she worked as a nanny in return for her board and room. It was a hard life, she was treated very much as a servant, but through it all she gained resilience and became a very strong woman.

Here she’s probably about 21 so just coming into her own.”
