Mouse-Over Images to Zoom

Image share by Greg Wasko

That is a picture of myself and my mom when I was 4 and she was 35. It was taken December 1956 as we walked down Granville St. We were probably coming from Hudson’s Bay as she often shopped there and her sister worked there in the stocking department. I accompanied her downtown quite often since I was well behaved (most of the time). She was a fashionista as you can see by the way she was dressed and the way she dressed me up. Foncie was standing on his usual corner near Granville and Robson when he took the photo. I always liked when he snapped my picture. We received this photo in the mail, as you can tell by the envelope, after they were paid for Dec. 21. You could also pick up the photos at Foncie’s shop at 872 Granville St. It was a small one room affair with a counter displaying photographs and a girl who would take the ticket Foncie handed you on the street and get your pictures.
