It was the best of times – the Summer of ’52. My girl friend and I worked at the concession stand at Kits Beach. The boys hung around until we got off work. Bob was special so he got to walk me over the Burrard Street Bridge train trestle to catch the bus on Granville Street which would take me home to Burnaby. But alas, at the end of summer I returned to school.

After a set or two of tennis on a hot summer day, the fish and chips at the concessions were the best in the world! I believe they were run by the Vancouver Parks Board.
