In this picture you can see a quartet of me and my buddies in the summer of 1943. From left to right: Glen Blackwood, John Sugars, Jack Marshall, Murray Howarth.

All of us were about 13 when we attended our first camp at the “Goose Spit” near Comox BC. We were transported there by a Navy ship (HMCS Saun Pur) a mine weeper. All our officers were Attending University at Royal Roads School, Victoria and they were tough but fair. Had the war lasted a few years longer we would have been “Cannon Fodder” for the next round of fighting in that TERRIBLE conflict.
