Mom used to take me downtown on the bus to go shopping at Army & Navy and Woodward’s $1.49 Day (Tuesday!). I obviously did not want to hold her hand this day, but did want to make sure I was carrying my purse just like she was! Mom passed away a few years ago, but I still remember those bus rides across the Granville Street Bridge. I recall noticing the tallest and most spectacular building in the city, the Vancouver Hotel, with is tarnished green copper roof.
