I was happy to be in wonderful Vancouver as a new Scottish immigrant and bride of one year. I worked near by at a business college whose principal was the daunting Miss Janet McNiven. Miss McNiven returned a coffee pot from the sister college in Victoria. I couldn’t tell the difference between the soft spoken First Nation students and the more demanding ESL Chinese students. One young man explained “I’m a native”. “A native of where?” I asked!
