25 year old Monty Bingham and his mother, Nora, walking down Granville Street. It is 1945. The war in Europe has just ended and Monty is on leave from the Airforce. He has signed up to go to the remaining war against Japan. He remembers thinking he would not come back and he was enjoying his mother. Monty is now 93 and lives on Quadra Island.
