In this photo I’m walking on Granville Street on a shopping trip with my Aunt Elsie, who was out on a visit from Brandon Manitoba. I’m about 18 years old.

My Aunt Elsie is in the missing half of the photo. She wanted the photo and I didn’t want to give her the whole thing so we split it in half! We were on our way back from Chinatown. She adored going to Chinatown because they didn’t have that in Brandon. She enjoyed the food and surroundings and atmosphere. Everytime we went to town we had to go there. In those days, Chinatown had trap doors in the sidewalks to load and unload goods. I couldn’t walk over them because my eldest brother Ross told me that there were underground tunnels all through Chinatown and I was afraid that if I fell through I would never find my way out again!

This photo goes with the other photo that I posted of me and my boyfriend (later husband) Eddie Hamilton, where he is wearing a raincoat like mine that I bought for him at Woodward’s.
