I have many fond memories of our annual visit to the PNE. We always stopped in at the Forum for my Grandmother to see the knitting prize winners, and at the BC Pavilion to gaze at the BC Relief map. But for us kids, the main event was Playland, and of course, eating as much junk as we could possibly talk Mom into buying us! In 1961, we were living in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories where my father, a bush pilot, was based. We visited Mom’s hometown every summer and the PNE was a must. Foncie captured Mom holding my younger sister Diane’s hand while I walk behind her. My cousin Vicki is behind me and my grandmother beside her. Mom was a great seamstress and always sewed us matching dresses. Imagine being so well-dressed for an outing to the PNE!
