Our father, Richard Merle Krehbiel was a 21-year Saskatchewan farm boy when this was taken on Granville Street in 1937. He was in Vancouver studying stationary engineering at the Hemphill Diesel Engineering School, where he was “rated and recommended … as a competent Engineer” on November 2. He then returned to Saskatchewan where he applied those skills to farming and lumbering, and in 1942, to the engine room of Corvette “Ville de Quebec” until the end of WW II. He retired to Ladner in 1971.
