      It is a great example of a once-common form of portraits made on the street in big cities around the world. San Francisco had a franchise called Fox Movie Flash. All of them worked in a similar way — photographers snapped a couple, then presented them with a card, identifying their portrait by number. You could give him 25c (approximately) and the photographer could mail it to you, or you could come by the office and pick it up. Unthinkable in the age of instant photography — but a common snapshot form once upon a time, starting in the 1930s, going through the 1970s in San Francisco.
