My grandparents, Leo and Kate Ward, were photographed in downtown Vancouver, shopping the week before Christmas 1958. Both Leo Ward and Kate (nee Tomlinson) were born in Derby, England in 1908, and emigrated to Canada in 1928. They married in 1929 and raised 6 children in Guelph Ontario. Leo fought overseas in WWII, and they moved to Vancouver in the mid-1950s, running a rooming house in the West End. In Vancouver, Leo worked as a milkman, and Kate worked at Vancouver General Hospital.
