My Mom and Dad, Frances and Doug Allen, taken around 1941 in front of the Chanticleer Lunch on Granville Street. Dad was on leave from CFB Red Deer where he served throughout WWII with the rank of Sergeant-Major WO1, training troops in auto mechanics. One of the chief regrets of his life was that he was never posted overseas. Born and raised in Stoke-on-Trent, it was a particularly difficult time for him when England was being bombed by the Luftwaffe.
